Thank you for stopping by the Sleeping Wealthily website–your gateway to living the life of your dreams. When we were young, we’re told that we can be whatever we want to be; do whatever we want to do. That was called “the American Dream.” When you moved out of your folks house, you found out that there’s a new “American Dream” which is more of a nightmare, if you ask me.
If you were like me, you found out that life is hard. It’s nearly impossible to get the life you thought you could get when you were younger, especially since it costs so much to get it. And, no matter how hard you work to reach it, you still can’t afford it. Well, reaching to achieve that dream is the purpose of this site. Together, we will work to get the life of our dreams.
Who am I?
I am just like you. I grew up in a smallish town in Arkansas (it’s not too small, there’s a Walmart and a McDonald’s there). As I was growing up, I was told that I could be anything I wanted to be. Also, at the same time, I was taught that if I worked hard (everyday… 24/7/365.. almost to death), then I could be successful. I was supposed to go to college, get an education in a field that would be lucrative, and I’d be alright. So, I did that.
I graduated and went to college where I majored in something that I thought would be lucrative (notice the key word is “lucrative”). It wasn’t exactly what I wanted, but it was something I was interested in. I was interested in it enough to obtain a Master’s degree in the field. Then, I went to work… unfortunately it wasn’t what or where I had in mind.
For years, as I tried to find a job in my field, I worked minuscule part-time jobs at part-time pay, barely making ends meet. I’ve done almost everything, from being a barista to catering. My major was in mass media/communications with a minor in business. Everything I did had nothing to do with my field. On top of that, I was sending letters and resume’s out to any and everyone. I still have, what I call, my “professional graveyard” of all the resume’s I sent out to employers who turned me down. It was like this for about 10 years, until I got my big break!
I finally found a position in my field! I was excited, but there as one catch… it was on a volunteer basis. Don’t get me wrong, I loved it! But, I wasn’t getting paid to do what I went to school for. I was told that with a Master’s degree, I could work anywhere and get a good paying job. I found out the hard way that was not true. Also, I had debts that were piling up with not a decent enough income to pay it off. But, after a couple of years of volunteerism with them and taking other paths, I finally landed the job I wanted.
The job is great, but in pursuing the job, I still have a lot of debt and every day was turning into a nightmare. Plus, after years of trying to get the job, I’d lost interest in it. So, now what? What am I to do to get out of this “American Nightmare?”
Helping You Sleep Wealthily
My life story above is a scenario I know many of you are in. You may be in debt. You may be on the brink of giving up in life. You may be wondering when you’re going to be able to live the life of your dreams. You’re also probably wondering, “how can someone sleep wealthily?”
I had a conversation with a co-worker of mine one day about how easy it was to be wealthy. We discussed that a person who could work $11/hour for 24 hours could make a nearly $100,000 annual salary. Now, any sane person would not work $11/hour for 24 hours every single day. However, my co-worker and I were astonished with how little it took to get a $100,000.
What could you do with a $100,000 salary (that’s over $8,000/mo)? $8,000 a month can be enough to legitimately take care of business and be on your way to living the Amercian Dream and wake up from your American Nightmare. But, how is it possible to earn $11/hour?
Three words: In your sleep!
